The Royal Gurkha Experience
I'm Kumar Shrestha, owner of Royal Gurkha. I spent 22 years in the British Army, serving all over the world. It gave me the chance to taste food from everywhere. But I kept thinking about home — Nepal has some of the richest food and culture around, and hardly anyone outside the country knows it.
So when I retired, I decided to do something about that.
Royal Gurkha is the result.

Nepal isn't one thing — it's dozens of regions, communities and food traditions, and we try to bring a bit of that into every dish.
We've got a big, air-conditioned dining room, a garden and smoking shelter, and a basement VIP wine bar downstairs. Good for a family dinner, a date, or a work do — whatever brings you in. Come try it. Whether you know Nepalese food already or you're new to it, we think you'll leave happy.

I couldn't have done this without Dipu Shrestha, our Executive Chef and part owner. He's cooked in Nepal, Scotland and England, and it shows in the food. Nothing on our menu is just pulled from a recipe book — we've built it ourselves, staying true to real Nepali cooking but making it work for how people eat today.
We also serve Indian, Indo-Chinese and a few British favourites alongside our Nepalese dishes, so there's something for everyone at the table.
